Escalated Technical Support and Billing
Eliminated 1700 letter backlog in their billing email system. Converted two week response time for billing questions to a 24 hour response. Implemented automation to the email system. Clients were able to get self help for most problems. Leveraged procmail for Unix to automate customer service at a time when not many companies were providing self-help systems to customers.

After cleaning up Billing, I was put in charge of fixing the Tech Support email issues as well. In addition to these responsibilities I provided third level phone technical support to end users, and was part of a team that would save customers who were about to leave.

Summer 1995

Assistant to Purchasing Manager & Technology Consultant
Their inventory control system failed, and in the time between it's failure and the new system going up I was in charge of moving the entire inventory control over to Excel spreadsheets to keep the company inventory management functional. During a 4 month period I created all the purchase orders for the Manhattan store, and Long Island warehouse. I would also make sure there wasn't extra inventory in either the warehouse or store. This position expanded my knowledge of Microsoft Excel and using Macros to calculate data.

Direct Care Counselor
Assisted 10 mentally ill and/or mentally retarded adults to better integrate into daily life. The goal of the house is that eventually a resident will move out of the house, and live on their own. Responsible for group activities, ensuring food is in the house, medical trips, encouraging residents to stay on medication, being there to listen to their needs or problems, and to be a supportive friend. This position taught me how to deal with situations that were physically and emotionally difficult. Skills learned here I have used on Ambulances and Rescue to deal with individuals under stress.

Work on many Windows, Mac OS, and Linux based systems. Work has always been on an on-call basis. When equipment fails I can be reached, and work to get the system back up again. This includes phone support, email, on site replacement of parts, as well as sending machines in for repair. This continues to be a side job to this day because many times it exposes me to new software and configurations that keep my education current and diverse.

This was a staff position at a Jewish summer camp as an Administrative Assistant. I was in charge of the LANtastic network at the camp connecting all the office computers, and printers. Responsible for making sure that everything on the network could see the server, and that backups occurred. Additional responsibilities included answering the switchboard, driver, and as an Emergency Medical Technician when needed.
